How to Download Past Papers for Offline Study on PPAPS

Reliable internet access is not always guaranteed for students in Malawi — whether because of load-shedding, limited data bundles, or studying in areas with poor signal. PPAPS is built with this in mind: the app allows you to download past papers directly to your Android device so you can study anywhere, any time, without needing a connection.

Once a paper is cached locally, it opens instantly from the Saved tab — no loading, no waiting, no data usage. This also means you can download multiple papers in advance when you have Wi-Fi, then study offline throughout the week.

1. Open the PPAPS app and log in to your account.

2. Navigate to your institution, then your faculty, department, and course.

3. Browse the list of available past papers. Tap any paper to open it.

4. Once the paper is open, tap the Download icon (arrow pointing downward) in the top-right corner of the screen.

5. The paper is saved to your device. A confirmation appears at the bottom of the screen.

6. To access downloaded papers, tap the Saved tab at the bottom of the home screen. All offline papers are listed here, organized by course.

7. To delete a downloaded paper, long-press it in the Saved tab and select Remove.

Download papers for all your courses at the start of each semester — this takes a few minutes with a Wi-Fi connection and saves you from hunting for papers later.

The PPAPS app stores papers using IndexedDB local caching, which is efficient and does not significantly impact your device storage for text-based papers.

If a paper has large diagrams or scanned pages, the file size will be higher. Check your available storage before downloading a full semester's worth of papers.

Papers remain available offline indefinitely. If an administrator updates or replaces a paper, you will see a notification in the app prompting you to refresh your local copy.
